HB 54, a bill to increase the tax on cigarettes $.40/pack (total $1.00) and to increase the wholesale tax on spit tobacco from 20% to 33 1/3% will be introduced this session. This increase is projected to generate approximately $16 million annually and the monies are targeted for Title XIX. Contact your Representative NOW and monitor Legislative activities as the session progresses. This is a great opportunity to work in coalition with other agencies such as, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society to promote health for the citizens of Wyoming.
